Over the best part of 60 years, my factory, the place where I worked for 34 of those years, provided employment for thousands of local workers in the manufacturing and selling of ladies hosiery and knitwear. Margaret Scott, whom I met one week before I started in
Berkshire in 1955, was a Seamer of FF Stockings. We were married on19th March 1960 and enjoyed our 47th Anniversary in 2007.

Join me as we walk through the Galleries and see many of my friends of bygone years. As I run my mind back over the manufacturing procedures, I am in wonder at the fineness of the thread and machinery and of the planning, selling, training and supervision of new workers in the fine guage hosiery industry new to Newtownards.
It has been a great encouragement to have had given to me a substantial input of material for this website from Alex Fetherston, Brian Mackey, Eric Lowry,
Margaret Mathews,
James Brownlie, Geddis Irvine, Tommy Harkness, Kenneth Hughes, Freda Fulton, John Wright, Wallace Wigston and several others.
It is my hope that I will continue to receive more data from more new sources including the Ulster Folk Museum Curator, Cultra.
