With Deepest Sympathy

Reg Naylor
1932-2007

It is with a deep sense of regret that I have to announce the peaceful passing of Reg Naylor, at his home in Eyemouth, Scotland, at 2.10am on Saturday 3rd March 2007.
To his wife Pam and their daughters Caroline and Paula we extend our very sincere sympathy; also to Gary, Mark, Stephen and Philip, and their Mum, Edna, in Ireland .

The funeral will D.V. be held in Eyemouth, on Thursday 8th March at 1.30pm. Family flowers only please; but anyone wishing to make a donation in lieu of flowers will be assisting in the work of the local Health Centre.

Reg commenced his employment on leaving Regent House Grammar School, Newtownards, at the Glen factory of Ulster Knitting Mills Ltd and was to remain employed in that company, with a name change to Berkshire Hosiery, for 21 years as Quality Control Manager.
For 6 of those years he was my Manager and it was during that time Reg, with his devoted staff, coped with the responsibility of maintaining the high quality standards of the large International company.

Reggie was technically very clever and well capable of discussions with visiting Buyers, Inspectors and Technicians at the highest level.

Intelligent, witty, genuine, caring, and hepful are just a few of many words of praise which come to my mind.
Reg left Berkshire in 1970 and spent 7 years with Pex, in Durham. He also worked for a while in the Liverpool area. However, he was to settle in Eyemouth in Scotland where he endeared himself to many and enjoyed the friendship of all.

In research work for this website I had the pleasure of talking to Reg and his wife Pam just seven weeks ago and, despite his illness, found him to still have a great memory and enjoying a real sense of peace and happiness.

Reg Naylor taught me a lot. He was a true friend to all of his workmates and will always be held in the highest esteem.

On behalf of his former work-colleagues, Tommy Harkness, Ken Hughes, Lindsay McCartney and many, many others, I extend our thoughts of love, and sympathy to all his family, including brothers Norman and Eric, and to the wider family circles at this sad time of parting.
