Roberta is introduced to Lord Wakehurst

Dear Charles,   I have spoken to you before. I worked as a seamer in The Nylon from 1949 to 1956, and have come across two photographs that might be of interest for your website. One is a group photo taken on 10th March 1953, and the other is of me being presented to Lord Wakehurst, accompanied by two of the directors. I do not know the exact date when this photograph was taken.

Amongst the colleagues I remember are Elsie White, Carol Ambrose, Maud Boyd, Jean McClenaghan, Mary and Tina Morrow, and the Born sisters. I would be interested to know if anyone remembers me. I was Roberta Whittaker, and married James McDowell in 1955. Another colleague, Maimie Coulter, later became my sister-in-law when she married my brother Neill.

Maybe some people will recognise themselves from the group photograph and would like to get in contact.
A question. Does anyone remember the knitters' strike in 1955?
Best wishes,
Roberta McDowell
