The Berkshire company was formed in Northern Ireland in 1947 in a small unit at Crawfordsburn Road, Newtownards but moved the following year to a spacious 22 acre site on the Donaghadee Road.

During that period the Newtownards main factory had undergone five extensions and an auxilliary factory, called Ulster Hosiery Ltd.,was opened in Dundonald, near Belfast, in 1967.The aim, and also the acheivement, here was to produce high quantities of basic tights, named Poodle, on high-speed machines. More
